As someone who tends to be anxious, I’m always on the search for ways to reduce stress and feel calmer—especially on those crazy days at work when I’m juggling about a million projects! So when I started hearing about the benefits of meditation, I was intrigued.

Research has shown the ancient practice actually changes the way the brain works, and helps people to calm anxiety, improve focus, boost their mood, and so much more—as you’ll see on the infographic below.

I’ve started doing a meditation practice every morning, and it’s helped so much. I can feel a huge difference in my mood and stress levels. It’s also helped me realize that in today’s technology-centric world when we’re constantly plugged in, sometimes the best thing you can do for your brain is to do nothing at all.

Plus, it’s not just yoga teachers or monks who are sitting in stillness! The CEOs of major companies from Apple to AstraZeneca have implemented meditation sessions at their offices to help their employees become happier, healthier, and more productive.
