You walk into the office one morning and your co-worker is leisurely sipping on a glass of something… thick and green. As your raise an eyebrow, you quietly wonder how on earth anyone could drink that. Well, your co-worker isn’t the only one doing it. Green smoothies are a great way to load up on fruits and veggies before your first cup of coffee.

Aside from the nutritional benefits, they’re actually quite tasty! Even though green smoothies are packed with the vitamins your body needs, if you’re not careful, you could end up consuming more than a day’s worth of sugar before noon.

Create your own green smoothie

If you’re feeling adventurous, you can create your own concoction by following this simple veggie to liquid to fruit ratio.

2 Cups Leafy Greens

Spinach, kale, romaine, swiss chard, chard, or dandelion

2 Cups Liquid Base

Water, almond milk, green tea, coconut water, or coconut milk
TIP: Blend your greens with the liquid before adding the fruit.

3 Cups Fruit

Banana, strawberries, mango, blueberries, apples, dates, grapes, peaches, pineapple, kiwi, melon…you get the idea.

SUPERCHARGE your green smoothie by adding in protein powder, chia seeds, hemp seeds, flax seed, nut butter, cocoa powder, or spirulina.
